Souffler la veilleuse - On Tour
October 15 to November 1st, 2026 Solo performance in French, with no English surtitles
Inspired by playwright Arthur Milner’s personal experience, Souffler la veilleuse tells the story of a son faced with his 93-year-old mother’s wish to die with dignity. Through family memories, reflections on aging and questions surrounding medical assistance in dying, the play explores our relationship with end-of-life and the choices that come with it, with humour and sensitivity.
Presented on tour by La Troupe du Jour and performed by Bruce McKay, the play invites audiences to laugh, reflect and open a conversation about an experience that touches us all: growing older, supporting those we love and, one day, saying goodbye.

Bruce McKay
Originally from Sackville, New Brunswick, Bruce earned a bachelor’s degree in French and Drama from Mount Allison University before continuing his training at the National Theatre School of Canada. He directed Albertine, en cinq temps, La Troupe du Jour’s community production in fall 2025. His acting credits include Souffler la veilleuse, first presented in February 2025 and returning for a special Saskatchewan tour in fall 2026, as well as Lear and Will & Ernest (La Troupe du Jour), The Young Ones (Sum Theatre), Monday Night (Highway 55) and Death of a Salesman (Theatre Naught). He lives in Saskatoon with his wonderful partner, Cheryl Jack, and their friend Hazel.
