Bruce McKay

Metteur en scène // Director

Originaire de Sackville, au Nouveau-Brunswick, Bruce a obtenu un baccalauréat en français et en art dramatique de l’Université Mount Allison, puis a poursuivi sa formation à l’École nationale de théâtre du Canada. Il a mis en scène La Cantatrice chauve, le spectacle communautaire de La Troupe du Jour en 2024. Il a joué no-tamment dans Souffler la veilleuse, Lear et Will & Ernest (La Troupe du Jour), The Young Ones (Sum Theatre), Monday Night (Highway 55) et Death of a Salesman (Theatre Naught). Il habite à Saskatoon avec sa merveilleuse partenaire Cheryl Jack et leur amie Hazel.

Originally from Sackville, New Brunswick, Bruce graduated from Mount Allison University with a B.A. in French and Drama, then continued his training at the Na-tional Theatre School of Canada. He directed La Cantatrice chauve, La Troupe du Jour’s community play last fall. Acting credits include Souffler la veilleuse, Lear and Will & Ernest (La Troupe du Jour), The Young Ones (Sum Theatre), Monday Night (Highway 55) and Death of a Salesman (Theatre Naught). He lives in Saskatoon with his wonderful partner Cheryl Jack and their friend Hazel.

Emily Rempel

Emily is a multidisciplinary theatre artist who wears many hats, working as an actor, costume and set designer, stage manager, and venue technician. She holds a BFA Honours from the University of Saskatchewan, where she studied both her theatrical passions, acting and design. Since graduating in 2021, Emily has worked with numerous theatres in Saskatoon, including La Troupe du Jour, Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan, Persephone Theatre, and several local indie theatre companies, which she considers a pleasure and a privilege. She believes that imagination and community are at the heart of every project, and that kindness and a positive outlook are the keys to successful collaboration.

Tania Duclos

Albertine, 30

Tania Duclos est une Acadienne originaire du Nouveau-Brunswick qui habite à Saskatoon où elle enseigne le français et la littérature à l’université. Après avoir longtemps délaissé le théâtre, elle y est revenue l’an dernier grâce à la Troupe du Jour pour la pièce communautaire de La Cantatrice chauve et est contente d’être une Albertine cette année pour fêter les 40 ans de la Troupe.

Tania Duclos is an Acadian originally from New Brunswick now living in Saskatoon where she teaches French and literature at university. After having neglected theater for a long time, she came back to it last year thanks to the Troupe du Jour’s community play, La Cantatrice chauve, and is now happy to be an Albertine to celebrate the 40 years of the Troupe.

Shannon Lacroix

Albertine, 40

Originaire de l’Abitibi au Québec, Shannon Lacroix est diplômée du programme Journalisme – écrit et radiotélévision du Collège Canadore à North Bay en Ontario. Elle est arrivée en Saskatchewan en 2010 pour commencer sa carrière, et elle a été rapidement captivée par les paysages de la province. Elle a brièvement quitté la Saskatchewan entre 2016 et 2018 pour vivre en Irlande avant de s’installer à Saskatoon à l’automne 2018. Depuis son retour, elle explore sa créativité en écriture, photographie, impro et tricot en plus d’être animatrice de l’émission Couleurs café sur les ondes de CFCR à Saskatoon depuis février 2021. C’est l’année suivante qu’elle retrouve sa passion pour les arts de la scène en tant qu’artiste à la tente Il est à peu près temps au Nutrien Children’s Festival.

À la suite de sa participation à plusieurs pièces communautaires de La Troupe du Jour, Shannon retourne sur les planches pour une 4ème fois avec Albertine, en cinq temps. Merci à toute l’équipe pour une excellente expérience!

Originally from Abitibi, Quebec, Shannon Lacroix graduated from the Journalism – Print and Broadcast program at Canadore College in North Bay, Ontario. She arrived in Saskatchewan in 2010 to start her career and was quickly captivated by the province’s landscapes. She briefly left Saskatchewan between 2016 and 2018 to live in Ireland before moving to Saskatoon in the fall of 2018. Since her return, she’s been exploring her creativity in writing, photography, improv and knitting as well as hosting Couleurs café on CFCR since February 2021. The following year she rediscovered her passion for the performing arts as an artist at the It’s About Time tent at the Nutrien Children’s Festival.

Following her many community roles, Shannon returns to the stage for a fourth time with Albertine, en cinq temps. Thank you to the entire team for a great experience!

Gail Enright

Albertine, 50

Gail a déménagé de Prince Albert à Saskatoon en 2023. Elle a aimé se produire pour les compagnies de théâtre de Prince Albert dans de nombreuses productions pendant plus de 20 ans. La première scène sur laquelle elle a joué fut celle de La Troupe du Jour, dans leur pièce communautaire C’est à Nous d’y Voir en 2023. Ce fut également la première fois qu’elle jouait en français. Elle a aussi participé à la production It’s Murder in the Wings de la Mini Fridge Theatre Company en 2024.

Gail a vécu deux expériences de comédie musicale à Saskatoon : elle a fait partie du chœur des Whos dans Seussical the Musical avec les McClure Players, et elle a également été membre de l’ensemble dans la production de The Music Man des Saskatoon Summer Players. Gail a beaucoup apprécié travailler avec la distribution et l’équipe technique de la pièce communautaire de cette année, Albertine en Cinq Temps.

Elle tient à remercier ses collègues de scène, sa famille et ses ami·e·s pour leur soutien durant cette production. Merci de soutenir le théâtre francophone. Bon spectacle !

Gail moved from Prince Albert to Saskatoon in 2023. She enjoyed performing for the theatre companies in Prince Albert in many productions for over 20 years. Gail’s first stage she performed on was La Troupe du Jour in their community play, “C’est à Nous D’Y Voir” in 2023. This also was the first time she had performed in French. She was also in Mini Fridge Theatre Company’s production “It’s Murder in the Wings” in 2024. Gail has had two musical theatre experiences in Saskatoon as part of the Who chorus in “Seussical the Musical” with the McClure Players and also was a member of the ensemble in Saskatoon Summers Players production of “The Music Man”. Gail has really enjoyed her time working with the cast and crew of this year’s community play, “Albertine en Cinq Temps”. She would like to thank her cast members, family and friends for supporting her during this production. Thank you for supporting French theatre. Enjoy the show!

Sonia Gouin

Originaire de Drummondville, au Québec, j’ai déménagé en Saskatchewan il y a plus de 30 ans. Depuis mon arrivée, je me suis impliquée dans pratiquement tous les organismes fransaskois : la FFS, la Ribambelle ainsi que La Troupe, où j’ai œuvré comme employée, bénévole et même… pseudo-actrice!
À un an de ma retraite de l’enseignement, j’ai décidé de me lancer dans une nouvelle aventure théâtrale avec la Troupe du Jour. J’en suis maintenant à ma sixième pièce communautaire. Du fransaskois, du Shakespeare, du Molière, du Tremblay… des défis magnifiques que j’ai relevés avec plaisir.
Merci de votre confiance et de m’offrir ce beau personnage d’Albertine à 60 ans.

Originally from Drummondville, Quebec, I moved to Saskatchewan more than 30 years ago. Since then, I’ve been involved in almost every Fransaskois organization: the FFS, La Ribambelle, and La Troupe—working as an employee, a volunteer, and even a pseudo-actress!
One year before retiring from teaching, I decided to embark on a new theatrical adventure with La Troupe du Jour. I am now in my sixth community play. Fransaskois theatre, Shakespeare, Molière, Tremblay… each one a wonderful challenge.
Thank you for trusting me and giving me the beautiful role of Albertine at 60.

Salut,

Je m’appelle Lolita Mouoko, je viens du Cameroun et je suis titulaire d’une licence en trilingue espagnole obtenue à l’Université de Dschang. Actuellement, je poursuis des études en travail social à Saskatoon.

À mon arrivée ici, j’ai voulu joindre l’utile à l’agréable : réaliser un rêve de toujours, tout en apprenant, en m’amusant et surtout en contribuant à la vitalité de la langue française en milieu minoritaire. Le théâtre, que je pratique en tant qu’amatrice, m’est apparu comme un bel espace pour cela.

Grâce à M. Bruce de La Troupe du Jour, j’ai eu l’opportunité de jouer le rôle de Madeleine dans Albertine en Cinq Temps, une pièce communautaire écrite par Michel Tremblay. Ce fut pour moi une première expérience sur scène, que j’ai vécue avec énormément de plaisir et de gratitude.

My name is Lolita Mouoko, I’m originally from Cameroon and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Trilingual Studies from the University of Dschang. I’m currently studying in the Social Work program in Saskatoon.

When I arrived here, I wanted to combine usefulness with enjoyment doing something I’ve always dreamed of, while learning, having fun, and especially contributing to the preservation of the French language in a minority setting. That’s where theatre came in, which I practice as an amateur.

I was given the opportunity by Mr. Bruce from La Troupe du Jour to play the role of Madeleine in the community play Albertine in Five Times by playwright Michel Tremblay. It was with great joy and gratitude that I stepped on stage for the first time.

Carla est reconnaissante de vivre et de travailler sur le territoire du Traité n° 6. Elle est professeure agrégée à l’École des arts de l’Université de la Saskatchewan. C’est sa première expérience de conception scénique à La troupe du jour. On peut voir ses créations et son mentorat au Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan, au Persephone Theatre, au Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre, au 25th Street Theatree, à La troupe du jour et dans divers collectifs de théâtre indépendants. Elle est fière d’être membre de l’ADC 659, du CITT et de la section locale 300 de l’IATSE. Un merci tout spécial à Lou, Reilly et Ryan pour leur compréhension quant à sa passion pour le théâtre.

Carla is grateful to live and work on Treaty 6 territory. She is an Associate Professor at the University of Saskatchewan School for the Arts. This is her first time designing at La troupe du jour. Her design work and mentorship can be seen at Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan, Persephone Theatre, Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre, 25th Street Theatree, La troupe du jour and various independent theatre collectives. Katie Blackburn-Dust est conceptrice d’éclairage, régisseuse et administratrice artistique basée sur le territoire du Traité n° 6 à Saskatoon, en Saskatchewan. Katie est titulaire d’un baccalauréat en beaux-arts avec haute distinction en interprétation de l’Université de la Saskatchewan, mais elle est heureuse d’avoir trouvé sa place dans les coulisses du théâtre, plus précisément dans la cabine de régie ! Parmi ses réalisations en éclairage, citons A Midsummer Night’s Dream: 1985, Hamlet, As You Like It (Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan), Yaga (Two Bees Productions/Live Five) et The Art of French Cooking (25th Street Theatre). Katie est fière d’avoir reçu le prix SATAward d’artiste émergente et d’avoir été nominée pour le prix SATAward d’excellence en conception.
