Ways to give

There is more than one way to contribute to the 40K for 40 Years campaign. Choose the option that works best for you.

1. Give to the Ian C. Nelson (LTDJ) Fund

The Ian C. Nelson Fund (LTDJ), managed by the Fondation fransaskoise, supports the long-term development of La Troupe du Jour. It helps fund building maintenance and renewal, as well as the creation, training, production, and presentation of francophone theatre in Saskatchewan.

Support the development of francophone theatre in Saskatchewan by making a donation to the Ian C. Nelson (LTDJ) Fund.

“This fund recognizes the important contribution made by Ian C. Nelson, actor, dramaturge, stage director, and translator. His whole career contributed to keeping the Fransaskois theatrical and literary culture alive.”
Roger Gauthier
President of La Troupe du Jour at the time of the fund’s creation (January 2024)

Ian C. Nelson

In 1969, after teaching for a year in France and completing his studies in librarianship at McGill, Ian founded Unithéâtre, a small French-language university theatre and precursor to La Troupe du Jour (LTDJ), at the University of Saskatchewan, where he worked as a librarian responsible for French-language collections.

In 1985, former members of Unithéâtre founded La Troupe du Jour. LTDJ allowed Ian to continue directing both classical and modern repertoire. He later became a dramaturgical advisor and workshop facilitator for new works at festivals bringing together theatre artists from across Western Canada. Ian was involved in the Writers’ Circle from the beginning and was its first regular facilitator.

Ian C. Nelson passed away on February 1st, 2024. In his honour, the Fondation fransaskoise and La Troupe du Jour created the Ian C. Nelson (LTDJ) Fund in December 2024. The fund provides financial support for building maintenance and renovation projects at LTDJ, as well as initiatives that contribute to the development of francophone theatre in Saskatchewan through creation, training, production, and presentation, including bursaries for artistic development.

Thank you for participating in Francothon 2026

The 29th edition was held from April 11-30, 2026

As part of the 2026 Francothon, La Troupe du Jour team has participated in a phone campaign on April 11 from the Fédération des francophones de Saskatoon office.

Supported by Radio-Canada ICI Saskatchewan, the Francothon allowed the Fondation fransaskoise to raise funds that support scholarships and community grants. Donations made to the Ian C. Nelson (LTDJ) Fund during this period also count toward La Troupe du Jour’s 40th anniversary campaign.

All contributions are part of the 40K for 40 Years campaign.

Thank you for your support.
