Four \u201cvegetables\u201d are bored at the care home and would like to go on a pilgrimage\u2014to Compostela. A lyrical play with music, Cantate is a reflection on life, aging, mortality, nostalgia, freedom and self-determination.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Written by Fransaskois author Madeleine Blais-Dahlem, Cantate pour l\u00e9gumes is a play in which text and song coexist. The work is notably inspired by the author\u2019s personal experience, particularly her mother\u2019s journey and life in a care home. Musical direction is provided by Helen Pridmore, whose music accompanies the dialogue, bringing depth to the characters and their emotions, punctuated by musical nods. Charlie Peters directs the production, which brings together text, music and movement in a surprising and original form. The cast features professional artists Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique Baudemont (the avocado), Gail Enright (the turnip), Carol Greyeyes (the asparagus) and Bruce McKay (the gourd).    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of its 40th anniversary, which will be celebrated on May 30, 2026, La Troupe du Jour is launching the $40,000 for 40 Years campaign. Donations to the Ian C.
